When single dad Michael needed someone trustworthy to watch his 4-year-old son Ethan for a long weekend, he hired 19-year-old college student Lily through a local app. What he didn’t expect was just how much she would mean to his little boy.

Over three days, Lily did more than babysit. She built blanket forts taller than Ethan, reread every dinosaur book (twice!), taught him how to make “fancy” peanut-butter sandwiches, and even stayed late when Michael’s flight was delayed — without asking for extra pay.

When Michael walked through the door, he found his usually shy son laughing, covered in washable paint, and proudly introducing her as “Lily the Awesome.”

At the end of the weekend, Michael handed Lily her regular fee — plus a thick envelope. Inside was $2,000 and a handwritten note:

“You didn’t just watch my son. You gave him joy, patience, and love when I couldn’t be there. This is the least I could do. Thank you for being extraordinary.”

With Michael’s permission, Lily shared the story online. It quickly went viral, earning millions of views and thousands of comments praising both her dedication and Michael’s generosity.

Lily says she’s putting the money toward tuition and saving the rest — “just in case another little boy needs a fort-building superhero.
