 TINY IS FINALLY FREE AFTER 55 YEARS IN CHAINS 

After spending more than half a century chained and forced to work in Thailand’s illegal logging industry, an elephant named Tiny has finally found freedom — and his first moments of rescue are nothing short of powerful. 

For 55 years, Tiny was made to drag massive tree trunks from sunrise to sunset, every single day. When rescuers found him, his body showed the truth of decades of suffering — severe malnutrition, visible bones, and scars from the sharp tools used to control him. 

But everything changed when Planting Peace raised funds to replace Tiny’s labour with a tractor, giving him a chance to be moved to Following Giants, an 80-acre sanctuary where he took his first free swim in a river… a moment that felt like the beginning of a whole new life. 

Tiny’s rescue is part of a growing effort to retire ageing elephants from labour and tourism across Asia — and while many still remain trapped in cruel conditions, Tiny’s story proves one thing: compassion and action can bring real change.
